Recent statistic by both Stats SA and SAPS indicate that the levels of crime in South Africa are high. What is compounding the situation is the increasing complexity and sophistication in the types of crimes committed.
The situation not only challenges the state security forces; but opens up opportunities for Private investigators and Security services to rise up to the challenge. It is as a result of crime that Business South Africa with its Business Against Crime initiative; has teamed up with all spheres of Government to eradicate crime across the country which has seen the introduction of CCTV surveillance cameras, posting of security guards at almost all public and business premises.
The complexity and sophistication in the types of crimes committed has also seen cases been assigned to Private Investigators who have, mostly successfully handed over criminals to law enforcement agencies for prosecution. The financial rewards for private security services and private investigators has brought a need for high level of professionalism, integrity and business ethic in delivering services lest one will be out of the market.
